Amigurumi Hamster - my first finished amigurumi

Yesterday I finally received the safety eyes. I ordered them in size 5mm and 7,5mm and they fit my amigurumis very well. Here is a little hamster I made for myself :). I think it turned out quite nice for my first amigurumi.

The Beginning

A week ago I grabbed a crochet hook and asked my mother to teach/show me how to crochet. I was intrigued by the craft and wanted to start making my first real project. While I was browsing the web and searching for an appropriate pattern I stumbled upon little cute animals which were made out of wool or cotton. My heart literally melted when I saw those adorable creatures. I have to admit that those little crochet toys, called amigurumi were unknown to me before. At once the wish of making my own amigurumi appeared in my mind. As I mentioned before my mother knows how to crochet very well, but she wasn't familiar with little tricks (for example magic ring, invisible decrease…) used with amigurumi. Thus I ended up ordering an online class called Amigurumi: Woodland Animals, created by Stacey Trock. I really got a lot out of it. This course is a great introduction to the world of amigurumi and it delivers amazing tips, such as how to start crocheting (basic crochets, increasing, decreasing), and how to read amigurumi patterns + instructor is really nice and she explains things very well.

So far I started making four amigurumis but none of them are finished (yes, I guess that's my style. I also read a few books at the same time:) ). The reason which is preventing me from finishing them is that I don't have any safety eyes, and I couldn't find them in Slovenia, so I had to order them online. I hope they will arrive soon and that I will be able to share my little creations with you.  Until then I wish you all the best!
